Take the first step toward a paperless office with an
ID Card Scanner for Allscripts Tiger
ID Card Scanning provides an option for users to scan insurance cards or other id’s (driver’s license, etc.) and attach the scanned image(s) to the patient’s account. Images can be easily viewed from Inquiry and other patient-centric workbooks in Allscripts Tiger.
·Cards can be viewed by anyone in the practice
·The scan takes less than 10 seconds
·Card image stays “on top” while entering data into the patient’s demographic screens
·Capture images of multiple insurance cards (primary, secondary), as well as driver’s license
·Copies of previous insurance cards remain on file, marked as inactive in the pick list
Once scanned, patient ID cards are available to all practice users:
Receptionist can easily verify current coverage
Billing staff no longer has to pull the chart to review the ID card
Current and past ID cards are all available on-line
ID Card Scanning features:
System-wide access – All images can be viewed from any workstation, that is running Allscripts Tiger. This means that all users on the system can benefit from the work of a single person in the practice without getting out of their seats.
Reduction of chart pulls – This will greatly reduce the number of chart pulls in the practice where a copy of the insurance card is traditionally stored in the patient’s chart.
One click access – By clicking an icon found within all patient centric workbooks, the images are always only one click away. This ensures that Allscripts Tiger continues to be user-friendly and minimal on additional keystrokes or mouse clicks.
Fast – The front and back of the ID Card can be scanned and saved in less than 20 seconds. This will assure the users that the front-end process of scanning the card will make them time efficient, or in the worse case scenario will allow them to be productivity neutral, while giving the ability to take advantage of the other features and benefits.
Enhanced workflow – When viewing the image, a “stay on top” feature enables the ID Card(s) to be viewed while entering data from the card into underlying Allscripts Tiger data entry screens. This ensures that Allscripts Tiger continues to be user-friendly and requires minimal additional key or mouse strokes.
Comprehensive – The solution allows for up to 99 images to be stored per patient and scans both the front and back of an ID Card into a single image. A practice will not run out of storage ability for ID cards.
Optimized storage – All images are compressed to reduce disk space requirements, allowing the users to continue to receive the same Investment Protection they are familiar with from Allscripts.
Full color and zoom feature – All images are scanned in color to enhance viewing capability. A zoom feature allows the user to magnify the image up to 200% to enhance readability. This is a great improvement over the manual process of today.
Requirements:

Windows XP Professional – The PC to which the scanner is attached must have Windows XP Professional (not "XP Home") installed as the operating system.
Card Scanner – The card scanner is an additional purchase
USB port – The PC to which the scanner is attached must have a USB port available
